Top of the Order
John Coy (2009) , 182 pages
All Jackson wants to do is play baseball. He can't wait for the season to start. He finally gets to play shortstop (his dream position). He and his best friends think they really have a chance to win the championship this year. In their last year before middle school, everything is going to be just perfect. Until they are not. They don't have enough people to play. Then a girl signs up to fill in the last spot. Jackson and his friends don't want to play with a girl! But Sydney is really good. If only the other teams would stop laughing at her. Every time they tease her, Jackson's team rallies around her a little more. By the time it is championship time, they are ready for anything.
