Magic Below Stairs
Caroline Stevermer (2010) , 192 pages
Frederick is a very hard-working orphan. He likes little details and learning new things. One day someone comes to the orphanage to hire a new servant for a famous wizard. Strangely, Frederick fits perfectly into the uniform for the job, even though the boy before him was much bigger. Oh well! Frederick goes off to live in the wizard's house both excited and nervous. Soon, Frederick has adapted to life as a servant, but strange little things keep happening that make Frederick wonder if maybe he is just a little bit magic too. This fun story includes a brownie, an ancient curse, and lots of magic. Reviewed by Gwen
