Someone Named Eva
Joan M. Wolf (2007) , 200 pages
Milada was 9 when the Nazis invaded her country. Except for food rationing and very little money, Milada's hometown was spared the worst of the fighting until the Nazis rounded up the entire town. First, the men and boys were taken, and then the women and girls. Girls like Milada, with light hair and eyes, were taken away. She was taken to a school where she learned that she would have to become a German girl named Eva. She also learned what was expected of her. She and the other girls were to be the Aryan basis for the new Germany. After many months at the school, she was given to a German family. But no matter what, Milada can't forget her true home or her real family. Reviewed by Lisa
