Services for Parents and Teachers at the Central Library
The librarians in the Children’s
Library are specialists available to help the public
in a variety of ways including research, homework help,
book recommendations, and general Library information.
In addition to these services, the Children’s
Library offers a few more specialized services.
Early Literacy Presentations & Workshops at Your Location
Specially-trained staff from the Denver Public Library can provide workshops for parents, caregivers and educators on how to incorporate fun literacy practices into everyday life. We will come to any Denver location at a time convenient to your community and organization. Workshop available in Spanish and/or English.
The recommended introductory presentation is
Every Child Ready to Read which stresses the important role of parents as their child's first teacher and provides an overview of the five everyday practices as well as library resources and programs for families.
We also offer in-depth workshops on each practice that develop skills children need to succeed in school.
For more information or to schedule a workshop, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Early Literacy Department at 720-865-1305.
Visits to the Children’s Library are tailored
to the grade level of the students and typically include
a tour of the Children’s Library and a storytime.
Tours can be arranged by calling
720-865-1306 at least two weeks in advance for reservations.
To arrange tours for grades 6 and up, call 720-865-1312.
Librarians at any branch can put together a teacher set of books for you to check out. You can call your local branch Library to order a teacher set or use the online email form. We are happy to pull teacher sets for Head Start and preschool programs, teachers or student teachers.
Community Technology Center
The Community Technology Center is located on Level Four of the Central Library. It is open to middle and high school
students for homework assistance and to adults for word
processing. School groups are

The librarians in the Children’s Library are

Also, check out the large collection of booklists on
many topics available in the BookBuzz database, online or in the Library.
