If you like graphic novels with HILARIOUS characters, then you'll LOVE Babymouse!!!!!! She's always messing up, and EVERYONE makes fun of her "all over the place," whiskers! I wonder if you'll go along with Babymouse, and agree that Felicia Furrypaws is the WORST animal/person EVEER!! IT has the author making comments, and maybe even you too making comments to everything she says! This book will make you LOL and make you feel sad for her,...."Typical"...According to me, that's Babymouse's FAVORITE response to pretty much EVERTHING!!!!!!!

The stories of a toad trying to save his tiny patch of home from a terrifying bulldozer and a girl trying to save her grandmother's pond from being bulldozed into a strip mall are beautifully intertwined in this charming and well-written modern fairytale. Tad is a young hopper who is sent on a quest to do the only thing possible (and the most disgusting thing imaginable) to save his homeland: kiss a human girl. Taylor is a human girl struggling to find a way to stop the commercial developers who have purchased the property next to her grandmother's home from destroying the habitat by paving it over completely. This book is fast-paced and action-packed, and manages to make serious points about environmentalism, loss, and love amidst the magical realism and fantasy. It would be a great title for Earth Day and for classroom read-alouds, as the adventure, told from Tad and Taylor's alternating perspectives, will keep kids on the edge of their seats until the very last page. You should read this book because it's a good book. It's a good first book to read because it helps you count to ten and it helps you to learn.
The book teaches us about many things. It teaches us that animals need water and water helps animals and people to live. It teaches a lesson about caring for the environment, about animal habitats, and about different places and continents.

One evening Jack gets lost in the forest after disregarding his mother's warning about the ferocious beasts that live there. He encounters a bear, a lion, and many other frightening animals along the way. Surely these are the beasts his mother was talking about, but they seem kind and gentle. The story is drive by wonderful watercolor illustrations full of movement, emotion, and dark shadows. This book makes a great bedtime read, especially for a chid who is a a little nervous about monsters lurking in the night. Librarian review

This short novel tells the story of Flory, a fairy who's wings were broken after a dangerous encounter with a bat. Flory is forced to change her way of life and make new friends due to her limited mobility (she can no longer fly). Schlitz builds an imaginative world in the confines of one backyard with charming pictures to accompany the text. Librarian review
