Using under ten words the author writes and illustrates a humorous story about a bear and his fruit. By simply changing the word order and illustrations children are able to recognize how they correspond with one another and by the second time through, they are able to tell the story on their own!

This is a fun interactive book with Helen Oxenbury's great illustrations. As you read, act the book out with exaggerated movements. Slap hands on thighs to represent walking. Swishy swashing - brush hands together. Splash splosh - pretend to swim. Squelch squerch - pretend your feet are stuck in the mud as you make the squishy sounds. Stumble trip - stumble while walking. Hooo wooo - pretend the snow is falling. Tiptoe tiptoe - tiptoe in an exaggerated way. This title helps kids become storytellers.

This is a tale about a young bear that follows his nose and a big yellow leaf until he is far from home. For children, the loss of the safety of parents is a big concern, but Oliver, after a moment of panic, figures out what to do to solve the problem. The illustrations are soft with fall colors and the illustrator did a fine job of capturing the emotion on Oliver's face.
