I thouhgt this book was so cool
because a little boy talks to a tree and a tree is your best friend.
Kid review
written by Lexus, Age 10
I tought that it was an very intresting book and it gave you a lot of feelings to think about. Like when the boy loves the tree and the tree shows love for the boy too. I think it is a very touching book.:)

Felipa, who recently lost her grandmother, finds solace in the Day of the Dead festivities of her Bolivian community. The villagers use special treats, flowers, and candles to decorate the graves, and the cemetery comes to life with laughter, music, and stories. The child feels close to her grandmother through the memories that her parents share with her. A great story about traditions, life and loss.

When an old buffalo can no longer keep up with his herd, he resigns himself to traveling behind them. Alone, he meets a young pregnant buffalo cow who is also alone. Suddenly his life takes on new meaning as he protects the cow and eventually shields her young calf from a windstorm. The story is beautifully told and illustrated, focusing not on the sadness of the old buffalo's situation, but rather his dignity and the life he has left. A lovely story to share with all ages. We all know that grapes turn into raisins, right? In this story little Grape gets to spend the day with his grandfather Raisin. They both learn lots about each other, and about the wonders of growing older and wiser. A silly premise for a really nice story of family relations and growing old. Librarian review
